The Caribbean Atlantic District

The Caribbean Atlantic District was originally a part of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean District. At this time Barbados operated as a separate entity under the guidelines of district members from Eastern Canada. Jamaica, Bahamas, Trinidad, Aruba, Dominica and St. Lucia are some of the islands that were also a part of Eastern Canada.

According to the Constitution & Bylaws of Key Club International, to form a new district, the proposed area must include no less than 25 active Key Clubs and no less than 375 active Key Club members. For this reason Jamaica and Bahamas decided to form their own districts. Barbados had a similar idea, but due to its size and membership, the island could not become a district on its own.

Together with Aruba, Trinidad, St. Lucia and Dominica, the Caribbean Atlantic District was born out of the great Eastern Canada District in the year 2001. However, because we did not meet all requirements of Key Club International, we were referred to as "A District In Formation". But with our hard work and determination, this title did not last very long. In the year 2005, Key Club International added to their list, the 33rd district. This was none other than the "Caribbean Atlantic District". We are all very proud of this new title and are working towards a better district every year. Special recognition must be given to K. Desmond Willet, our administrator and Ms. Rashida Beckles who was our Governor during the time.

In the year 2006, we got our first Male governor, Mr. Danny Babb. This was a pleasant change from the tradition and we hope it would encourage more guys to join the organization. Mr. Babb blazed a trail of excellence, as he personally made it his task to see that this Caribbean Atlantic District grows by leaps and bounds. At the end of his tenure, he said goodbye as Governor with the crisp promise that he will still be around, next year he will be around, five years later he will still be around; indeed he is still around.

As Mr. Babb said his farewell to office, Ms. Amanda Walters took up the mantle as Governor in the year 2007.Indeed she had a hard path to follow but under her careful attention to excellence, she also made her own path.

After Ms. Amanda Walters' tenure, Mr. Rashad Brathwaithe was elected as the second male governor of the district and as did the others, he too made his own path. Styled very differently, the district maintained a constant level of productivity. The Caribbean Atlantic District continued to enjoy steady success with Mr. Rashad Brathwaite as Governor!

As of April 2nd 2009, the District Governor of the Caribbean Atlantic District was Governor Ikwo C Morris. There has been intense progress and blinding rays of hope glisten from the pits of service within the newest district of the world renowned organization. We entrusted her with all of our aspirations as she continued to be an inspiration to Key Clubbers young and old. Join us on this never ending blazing journey as we develop caring, competent, and compatible leaders through the vehicle of service!

Following in the footsteps of Immediate Past Governor Ikwo Morris, is newly elected Govenor Chistiane King. Not only has she already proven her efficiency, but she did it with a breathtaking District Convention 2010. Having earned the Governor's Award for being the most supportive board member to the Governor, 2009-2010 Convention Chair Ms.King is synonymous with the word industrious.
